The Nexus 7 doesn't seem very toxic to me. It's a fine device.

My issues with the platform are not the hardware. It's that the Metro UI seems tacked on to the Desktop UI. And the switcharoo hasn't been clearly thought through. From time to time I inadvertently switch to the desktop through a touchpad gesture and vice versa. A lot of unnecessary jumping around. Maybe it's the Dell touchpad, but I don't think so. Also, the massive list of alphabetized programs under the Metro UI seem like a plausible replacement for the Start Menu. Until you realize that not all the installed programs are listed.
