AMD muscles in on Xeon’s turf as it unveils Epyc | Ars Technica: "AUSTIN—Today, AMD unveiled the first generation of Epyc, its new range of server processors built around its Zen architecture. Processors will range from the Epyc 7251—an eight-core, 16-thread chip running at 2.1 to 2.9GHz in a 120W power envelope—up to the Epyc 7601: a 32-core, 64-thread monster running at 2.2 to 3.2GHz, with a 180W design power."

Burying its head in the NAND: Samsung boosts 64-layer 3D flash chip production • The Register: "Samsung says that its 256Gbit chip has about 85.3 billion cells and several billion holes penetrating "several dozen layers of cell-arrays", with technological difficulties including making these holes homogeneous in shape. Another was “properly dispersing the weight of all the layers to improve the stability of the channel holes.”"

Weird how a 3rd party app like LibreOffice can work so well on all versions of an OS but the apps from major vendors like MS and Adobe are having trouble. Seems fishy.
