Apple News:Microsoft's Surface is still an iPad, according to NBC's Al Michaels - CNET

Microsoft's Surface is still an iPad, according to NBC's Al Michaels - CNET This is something from which Microsoft suffered during last year's NFL season. Having spent a reported $400 million to bring its Surface to NFL eyes, announcers kept referring to it as "the iPad."

At the time, it was said that networks were constantly reminding their talkers that the Surface looks nothing like an iPad and should therefore be referred to by its actual name.
According to the 22 Immutable Laws of Marketing, this is great... for Apple.

Apple News:Live Coding now lets you hire a developer and watch them work in real-time

Live Coding now lets you hire a developer and watch them work in real-time Live Coding, which is like Twitch for developers, has added a service that allows viewers to actually hire someone they’ve been watching.
Should be great for programmers who don't think about what they're about to type.

Apple News:Apple's efficient M9 coprocessor will let your iPhone 6s track pace, make 'Hey Siri' always on

Apple's efficient M9 coprocessor will let your iPhone 6s track pace, make 'Hey Siri' always on Unlike in previous iPhones, where the M-series chip was separate from the main CPU, Apple has integrated the M9 processor into the A9. The M9 is found in the forthcoming iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, and the iPad Pro.
Your creepy girlfriend at the NSA is always listening.

Apple News:Apple shows off iPad Pro, 'the biggest news in iPad since iPad' | Cult of Mac

Apple shows off iPad Pro, 'the biggest news in iPad since iPad' | Cult of Mac - iPad Pro’s stylus, which will be called the Apple Pencil, can read position, force, at tilt. And the tablet can tell the difference between the stylus and your finger, so it will read twice as often when the Pencil is in play for increased accuracy.
I'm actually quite certain that Steve Jobs' 2007 quote was in reference to the stylus design for the Palm. The Apple Pencil has a number of additional sensors which could make it quite interesting and (for myself) quite expensive to lose/replace?

Apple News:Google’s VP9 codec coming to Microsoft’s Edge browser | Ars Technica

Google’s VP9 codec coming to Microsoft’s Edge browser | Ars Technica

Microsoft has started developing support for Google's VP9 codec in its Edge browser. Initial support will be restricted to streaming through the browser when used with MP4 or AAC audio. Microsoft is considering adding additional audio codecs—Opus is often used with VP9, and Microsoft is also considering Ogg and Vorbis support—and extending support to support local playback. Microsoft intends to support both software decoding and, where possible, hardware decoding.
I think the change of leadership was good for Microsoft.
