Sundar Pichai to Tim Cook: Android’s not a toxic hell stew, it’s just a more popular operating system | 9to5Mac
Bloomberg Businessweek just published a lengthy profile and interview with Google’s head of Android and Chrome Sundar Pichai and within addressed some of Apple’s recent comments about Android.

The Nexus 7 doesn't seem very toxic to me. It's a fine device.

Apple News:Surface Pro 3 comes out today -- and you may actually want to pick this one up | VentureBeat | Gadgets | by Eric Blattberg

Surface Pro 3 comes out today -- and you may actually want to pick this one up | VentureBeat | Gadgets | by Eric Blattberg
Microsoft today released the Surface Pro 3, its latest tablet-laptop hybrid, in the U.S and Canada. It’s available through Microsoft’s online store as well as via retail partners like Best Buy, Staples, and Tiger Direct.

I'm running Win 8.1 on a cute Dell Inspiron 15. My issues with the platform are not the hardware. It's that the Metro UI seems tacked on to the Desktop UI. And the switcharoo hasn't been clearly thought through. From time to time I inadvertently switch to the desktop through a touchpad gesture and vice versa. A lot of unnecessary jumping around. Maybe it's the Dell touchpad, but I don't think so.

Also, the massive list of alphabetized programs under the Metro UI seem like a plausible replacement for the Start Menu. Until you realize that not all the installed programs are listed. For anyone with a modicum of Windows XP experience, the whole system seems like a strange and unfamiliar land. And time spent doesn't really seem to help settle.

Could be resolved by an 8.2 update. At least that's what I'm hoping.

There has been quite a bit of iBeacon news this year as retailers, venue owners, and more embrace the Bluetooth LE beacons for beaming customers and visitors location-aware notifications.

The most important of these notifications was, is, and will always be the answer to "Where's the restroom"?

This fall, Apple is expected to unwrap two next-generation iPhones with larger displays: a 4.7-inch model and a 5.5-inch higher-end “phablet” variant.

AbFab. Why don't they just put a cellular radio in the iPad Mini Retina?
