Apple News:Apple's Fusion Drive cuts Mac startup time in half, triples read/write speeds

Apple's Fusion Drive cuts Mac startup time in half
Techfast Lunch&Dinner got their hands on a 2012 Mac mini with Fusion Drive... Their tests found the Fusion Drive Mac mini started in just 15.7 seconds, while the 2012 Mac mini with a traditional hard drive took 34.1 seconds to start."

I have a striped external HDD and experience general nerves about the integrity of the data on the drive.

Will Apple Switch the Mac to ARM? Why Rumors Do, and Don't, Ring True. - Arik Hesseldahl - News - AllThingsD: "Apple’s last shift in chip technology happened during 2005 and 2006, when it pivoted away from the old IBM-made PowerPC architecture and instead embraced Intel’s processors, which already run inside most of the world’s personal computers."

I think this would be a relatively easy transition except for the emulation layer.
